Professional career

Pre-Draft

Arizona Cardinals

Boston left Ohio State with one year remaining eligible, and was drafted by selecting the eighth overall in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by Arizona Cardinals. In 2001, Boston had 98 receptions for 1598 yards and eight goals, starting at Pro Bowl.

San Diego Charger

Boston signed a seven-year, $ 47 million ($ 12 million guaranteed) contract with the San Diego Chargers in 2003. That season, he caught 70 passes for 880 yards and seven goals, although head coach Marty Schottenheimer suspended him for the match after he condemned the Coach's strength Dave Redding. Despite its considerable performance in the field, GM Chargers A.J. Smith trades Boston to Miami Dolphins for a sixth-round draft choice, citing his moody personality and unhealthy practice habits.

Miami Dolphins

Before the 2004 season, Boston proved positive against steroids and was ordered to undergo a four-match suspension. The suspension became academic after he tore the ligaments on his knee and could not play for the whole season. The dolphins cut him off at the end of the year, then went on to sign him back for the 'minimum veterans for 2005. He played in five games that year before tearing up the knee ligament again.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In 2006, Boston signed a contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was released by the team on 12 September 2007 after being arrested for DUI.

Toronto Argonauts

After spending the 2007 season of football, Boston signed a contract with Toronto Argonauts from the Canadian Football League on April 21, 2008. Boston reports to the training camp but his medical report shows a stress fracture on his right foot and recommends surgery. He is placed on a suspended list, never practicing or playing in pre-season. The doctor's second opinion, however, was that it was a two-year injury and cleared it to play in regular season opener on 27 June 2008, when he recorded two receptions for a total of 16 meters. After the match, however, Boston reported feeling too much pain and chose to follow the doctor's original advice of surgery requiring a 10 to 12 week rehabilitation period. He never played professional football again.

Personal life

Boston's father, Byron, is an American football official in the NFL. He was not allowed to lead the regular season game in which David played. Byron worked as a line judge for one of his son's preseason games, between Cardinals and San Diego Chargers on August 14, 1999.

On August 23, 2007, Boston was arrested in Pinellas Park, Florida and charged with DUI after a failed test of calm. Boston was released with his own confession. The Boston breath test resulted in a reading of 0.00 BAC. On September 10, 2007 it was released to the media that David Boston tested positive for GHB, a recreational drug with questionable connections for bodybuilding. After knowing the cost of drugs, Buccaneers quickly came to the completion of an injury with Boston allowing him to be released. On September 12, 2007, Boston was officially freed by Tampa Bay when they decided to sign Mark Jones. On 1 December 2011, Boston was accused of beating a woman after a night of drinking in Boca Raton. Boston allegedly hit the woman twice in the head, leaving a wound that required 10 stitches, according to a Boca Raton police report. Boston pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated batteries and received a six-month sentence. Judge Charles Burton said he extended the leeway to Boston, denying the prosecution's request for a four-year term, due to medical evidence that the defendant had suffered a permanent brain injury from four concussions he suffered during his playing days.
